2012 Summer Conducting School - seats, brass!
As of this Thursday, the 2012 ABODA Victoria Conducting Summer School had all conducting seats filled, and only one observer seat remained. Convener Andrew Mathers is ecstatic to have almost every opening filled. Now, we must fill the gap for ... brass players!
We are searching for french hornists, trombonists, euphoniumists, and tubists to join in the 2012 ABODA Summer Conducting School ensemble.
Each year, the conducting school lab ensemble performs works for the attending conductors. The ensemble is always great fun, and provides opportunities to observe on-the-podium conducting education, and meet other active music educators and performers.
Performers are welcome to play for the complete week or for sessions and times as convenient. A summary of times follows. Standards and other details are noted in the attached PDF.
ABODA Victoria Summer Conducting School
8-14 January, 2012
St Catherine's School, Toorak
Sunday 12/1, 1.30-5.30
Monday 13/1, 2.10-5.30
Tuesday 14/1, 2.10-5.30
Wednesday 15/1, [break]
Thursday 16/1 - 2.10-5.30
Friday 17/1 - 2.10-5.30
Saturday 18/1 - 11.45-4.10
Please contact Andrew Mathers (conductingschool.vic@aboda.org.au) and let him know when you will be able to assist. Without a well-attended low brass section the ensemble will be musically lacking. More important, it will not expose conductors to a characteristic brass section sound, and give them the opportunity to learn about that sound.
We will look forward to seeing you at the summer school!
